View this email in your browser April 2022 The Importance of Heritage By: Sam Hendrickson, Editor The modern word "heritage" descends from Middle English, deriving out of the Anglo-French word "heritatre" meaning "to inherit". The word "heritatre" comes from the Latin word "heridatare" meaning "to leave an inheritance". Through the definitions of these two antiquated words, we find the double pronged meaning of heritage. Heritage is what we inherit, and what we leave behind. Our heritage is like matter, we came from it, it cannot be destroyed, and we will leave something behind to contribute to its flow. All heritage has good to inherit and pass on, as well as negative attributes to be corrected, sorted out, and rectified. View this email in your browser February 2021 2021 Spirit of America Experience By Sowmya Gudapati Local students at the February 2020 Valley Forge Trip The Spirit of America trip is an integral part of encouraging and spreading our message to Educate, Honor, and Challenge among our youth since it’s conception. This scholarship trip to Pennsylvania is a chance for students to explore and learn more about the foundations of our country and culture through lectures, tours of historical locations, and interactions with other students from across America. Due to the constantly fluctuating situation regarding COVID-19 however, this year’s trip will be held through a virtual curriculum. We aspire to give every student attending the SOA trip the full educational experience and guarantee of safety they deserve, Valley Forge’s closing and recent closures of many of Pennsylvania’s historical sights have caused us to make these changes to the schedule.
